AUSTIN – The Texas Land Title Association (TLTA), one of the state’s oldest trade associations, recently installed Paul R. Rodriguez as President of TLTA for the coming year. Rodriguez is CEO of Valley Land Title Co. He will be TLTA’s 108th president. “We’re excited and honored to welcome Paul into this important position at our organization,” said Leslie Midgley, Executive Vice President and CEO of TLTA. “Paul has been a key player in our legislative outreach for years and has served with distinction on our board. He brings valuable expertise to the role of president, and he will be an outstanding leader for our organization over the next year.” Rodriguez is a member of the TLTAPAC Board of Trustees, and he also serves as one of TLTA’s Local Legislative Liaisons, who help maintain effective lines of communication with the lawmakers who oversee Texas’ regulated title insurance industry. Rodriguez joined the title insurance industry in 2006 after retiring from a 30-year commercial banking career. He graduated from Princeton University with a Bachelor of Arts in economics. He and his wife, Myrna, have been married for 42 years. They have 3 children and two grandsons.

Mario Garza, Chief Examiner (aka the Legend) spent the entire day, his last day (May 28, 2020) celebrating his retirement after 40 years of dedicated service to Valley Land Title Co. Because of the circumstances we were unable to throw Mario a HUGE celebration honoring his 40 years of service. We did however plan a day of festivities in his honor. Each branch and department spent time with Mario reminiscing, laughing and taking pics throughout the day. A retirement luncheon was held at Pepper’s and Mario was presented with his 40 years Recognition certificate and several gifts. Mario started his title career in 1972 as an Abstractor at Hidalgo & Starr County Abstract and joined VLTC in 1980 and the rest is history!! Mr. Jerry Canales commented that he would be missed and that we would have some big shoes to fill. Mr. Rodriguez also stated that Mario was always “calm, cool & collected and got the job done.” Mario plans to work on some home projects (aka honey do’s), travel, spend time with his family, build a summer home in Michigan and enjoy life!!!!! With the current situation that has impacted so many Valley residents, Valley Land Title Co. contributed to the Emergency Repair Grant program being sponsored by Affordable Homes of South Texas (“AHSTI”). Monies raised will go towards homeowners eligible to receive a small grant to help cover the cost of emergency repairs such as roofs, water heaters or AC units as summer draws near. With budgets already stretched for many families, AHSTI is anticipating an increased need for small emergency funding for families and is working towards being able to provide the help that so many need.
